WILL SVEN BE A SUCCESS IN THE PREMIERSHIP?

Can Sven do any better with City than he did with England?

Tuesday June 26,2007

By

SVEN GORAN ERIKSSON has today returned to English football by taking the job of manager at Manchester City.

The former England boss, who has been brought to the club by new owner Thaksin Shinawatra, has signed a three-year deal.

But the news has worried many City fans who fear the Swede's reputation has been tainted by England's dismal performance in last summer's World Cup finals and embarrassing revelations about his private life.

So, do you think Sven will get better results in the Premiership than he did for the national side? After leaving England on such a low, will he now be able to turn his career around? And is he passionate enough to follow Stuart Pearce at Manchester City?

MAN CITY'S NEW MANAGER

27.06.07, 1:52pm

He was a failure in the Serie A, which is why Lazio were glad to get rid of him. Why do you suppose he can do any better in the Premiership?

SVEN HAS THE PASSION OF A CORPSE

26.06.07, 4:04pm

If I was a City fan (I’m not), I would be livid. The team has been let to rot over the years, and now, dunderhead, Sven, is anointed the new messiah. The aforementioned is, simply, a charlatan, in need of a few million, to maintain his “lifestyle”. Of course, this will be off the backs of the loyal fans… who, by now, must be asking; what have we done to deserve this?
City fans are a loyal lot, and deserve more than a wannabe and has-been manager. There new owner had best open his unconvincing motives and wallet to buy a few decent players for the team.
It seems every guy out there, with a more money than sense, wants a piece of the Premiership. Soon, no part of England will be owned by the English: from utilities to our national sport. Shame!
