Two US soldiers have been charged with filming female colleagues while they were taking showers

Two US soldiers who served in Iraq have been charged with filming and photographing female members of their unit while they were taking showers and then distributing the video and images.

Officials said it happened during the unit's pre-deployment training at Fort Dix, New Jersey, in the autumn of 2008.

The accused soldiers are Sergeant Gilbert Parker and Spc Matthew Delia, both National Guardsmen of the 266th Military Police Company, 8th Military Police Brigade in Basra, Iraq.

The company is based in Manassas, Virginia.

If convicted, Parker could face a jail term of up to 18 years, while Delia could be imprisoned for 12 years.
