JANET JACKSON ESCAPES $120 MILLION LAWSUIT

Tuesday July 14,2009

JANET JACKSON has escaped a $120 million (£80 million) lawsuit after a judge ruled she was not connected to the beating of a New York man.

Leonard Salati filed suit against Jackson in 2005, alleging her bodyguards roughed him up when he went to say goodnight to her inside Club Marquee in the Big Apple.

He claimed, "They were monsters."

But Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Jane Solomon ruled that despite Salati's claims, Jackson's bodyguard wasn't involved in the fight - and that his alleged assailants were employees of a security firm hired by the club.

She says, "There is no evidence upon which a jury could rationally find that (Jackson's bodyguard) was the assailant, or that Jackson directed the assailant's actions or negligently failed to control him."

The judge also dismissed Salati's allegations against the club, but is allowing his claims against the security firm hired by the club to continue.

Salati is planning to appeal the ruling, and has branded the outcome "outrageous", according to the New York Post.
