INTER SPUR ON VIEIRA MOVE

INQUIRY: Redknapp wants Vieira on a free transfer

Wednesday July 15,2009

By Matt Law

INTER MILAN could pay £1million to convince Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira to join Tottenham.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has inquired about a shock swoop for Vieira on a free transfer.

But Inter are aware he would have to take a cut of at least £30,000 a week at Spurs and to help smooth over a deal and increase their chances of signing Tottenham’s Jermaine Jenas, they are considering allowing Vieira out of the final year of his contract and making up a large portion of the shortfall in his wages.

Birmingham, Sunderland, Fulham, Lyon and Paris St Germain have all asked about Vieira, but Tottenham’s proposal is the most attractive to him.

A one-year loan deal is also a possibility, with Inter paying some of Vieira’s wages, but a permanent transfer is more attractive to all parties.

NO NO NO NO

What on earth is Redknapp thinking about? He should remember Campbell and what happened to him. I know this is not quiet the same but an Arsenal legend coming to White Hart Lane is not something that the fans would embrace. In any event I doubt that he would come and join us.
