FANS: Offered souvenir programmes

Sunday July 19,2009

By Anthony Kay

FANS of the King of Pop are being offered souvenir programmes from his memorial service.

The prized souvenirs will be made available to anyone who bought tickets for his This Is It shows at London’s O2 Arena.

But to get their programme, fans will have to forfeit a cash refund for the 50 cancelled shows.

The programme, handed out to 17,000 mourners at the memorial service in Los Angeles on July 7, contains touching family tributes. Concert promoter Randy Phillips said: “We would like all the fans that were looking forward to him performing again to share in this.”

In the programme, Jackson’s sister La Toya tells how he cried watching the Grammy Awards in 1980 because he had only won one. She recalls him saying: “Watch, La Toya, my next record. I’m going to sell more records and win more Grammys than anyone in the history of music.”

His next release was Thriller – the best selling album ever.
