WHAT'S HELPING YOU THROUGH THE RECESSION?

Sales of chocolate have rocketed

Wednesday July 29,2009

WITH sales of Cadbury chocolate on the rise and flights with BAA on the fall, we want to know what you're doing differently in the recession.

Cadbury sales have risen this year as miserable Brits have turned to sweets to lighten their moods.

But passenger numbers for BAA are down as those who would usually splash the cash on a summer holiday are staying at home and saving.

Even indoor gaming numbers are up as Brits are spending more time at home and avoiding overspending on nights out and shopping trips.

We want to know what you have been doing differently in the recession and what's helping you save the cash.

WHAT'S HELPING YOU THROUGH THE RECESSION?

Having a reasonable private pension (the likes of which we will probably never see again) plus a state basic pension and a few squids in savings.
The above was only possible due to regular, stable employment, (doubt if we will ever see that again) saving on a regular basis & getting a fair return on the interest (don't s'pose we will see that again for the foreseeable)!

In addition, being in the right place at the right time to snap up a derelict property for cash, and having the practical skills to bring it up to a modern standard, it's now a home I/we enjoy!
(Not everybody has/had the required skills to do what I did).

Not wanting to crow, but I am now a position where my income exceeds my outgoings, not by a great margin, but enough to be able to pay my way.

I guess I was just lucky being born at the time that I was, I must add that do feel for the youngsters of today, I can't see anyway forward for them in the current and foreseeable state of this country's financial and job markets.
