WALLABIES COMEBACK STUNS ALL BLACKS

Saturday June 30,2007

Australia proved they are still a world force with a stunning 20-15 comeback win over New Zealand at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Trailing 15-6 at half-time in the Tri-Nations encounter, the Wallabies ran in two second-half tries to upset the All Blacks in the opening Bledisloe Cup match of 2007.

Substitute Scott Staniforth claimed the crucial try with just eight minutes remaining as the Wallabies secured their first win over the All Blacks since 2004.

Wallabies captain Stirling Mortlock produced a man-of-the-match performance, having a hand in both second-half tries - the other scored by Adam Ashley-Cooper - and starting many of the Wallabies' forward forays.

Richie McCaw led the All Blacks from the front, but the yellow card received by Carl Hayman in the 61st minute proved to be a major turning point.
