DOUGLAS' SON RELOCATED TO NEW YORK PRISON

The 30-year-old actor was arrested during a raid on his room at the Hotel Gansevoort on 3 August (09), and taken into custody on suspicion of possessing methamphetamines with intent to distribute.

He was released on bail and confined to the Manhattan apartment owned by his mother Diandra Douglas.

But officials insisted he was relocated to a secure jail after his girlfriend Kelly Sott attempted to smuggle heroin to him on Monday (10Aug09) in the battery compartment of an electric toothbrush.

Sott, 32, has also been placed in custody on drug-related charges at the Metropolitan Correction Center.

A preliminary hearing for both is set for 10 September (09).

Douglas faces a minimum of 10 years in prison if convicted and could be sentenced to life behind bars.
