By Daily Express Reporter

WALT Disney’s Mickey Mouse and Bambi are to get new stablemates including Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four through the $4billion (£2.5billion) takeover of Marvel Entertainment.

The film giant is buying the comic book group and 5,000 Marvel characters, many created by the legendary Stan Lee.

Disney chief Robert Iger said: “We believe that adding Marvel to Disney’s unique portfolio of brands provides significant opportunities for long-term growth and value creation.”

Marvel chief Ike Perlmutter said: “Disney is the perfect home for Marvel’s fantastic library of characters given its proven ability to expand content creation and licensing businesses.”
