Eduardo tactic is foreign to us, says Terry

ENGLAND captain John Terry has warned football’s divers, ‘we know who you are’, and pointed the finger at Arsenal and Croatia striker Eduardo.

Terry will clash with Eduardo in the World Cup qualifier against Croatia on Wednesday that could clinch England’s place in next summer’s finals.

Despite Arsenal’s appeal against the two-game ban handed to Eduardo for apparently diving in the Champions League play-off against Celtic, Terry believes he was in the wrong.

“I think the Eduardo one was a dive, we can all see that,” said Terry, who has recovered from a tight groin and will face Slovenia in today’s friendly. “It’s disappointing because Arsenal are a quality side and I don’t think they want to be portrayed like that.

“You look at the team-sheet and know who you have to be careful with. You know who they are.

“It’s not all the foreigners. It’s unfair to single them out, but from our mentality it’s not something we’ve ever been into.

“That’s not the way we play. We’re a very honest country and it’s a very honest league we play in. Sometimes as a country we’re too honest. Even in the Premier League, we see the English lads get a bit of contact and try to stay on their feet and score from the chance.

“The foreign mentality coming in is any little clip and you can go tumbling over.

“Hopefully, we’ve got a referee in charge on Wednesday who will be strong enough to deal with a lot of things.”

Terry also revealed he and his Chelsea team-mates spoke with striker Didier Drogba, who has benefited from cutting the diving out of his game.

“Didier is a brilliant player and it’s something we’ve addressed,” said Terry.

“He has definitely changed for the better – for him and Chelsea.”
