Lily pops over the Channel for Chanel

POP star Lily Allen looked like she was auditioning for Strictly Come Dancing yesterday during a surprise appearance at Chanel’s show in Paris fashion week.

Singer Lily, 24, emerged from beneath a pile of straw with her band to perform her single Not Fair as designer Karl Lagerfeld unveiled his spring and summer 2010 ready-to-wear collection.

She wore a shimmering black and gold Chanel dress with feathered shoulders and corsages in keeping with the theme of Marie Antoinette’s Hameau de la Reine, at Versailles.

The backdrop was a mock farm where three models romped in bales of hay at the finale as musician Prince looked on in the front row.

On the catwalk, designer Lagerfeld revealed dirndl skirts, quilted bags and a range of rustic-inspired cocktail dresses as trends for the season.

The designer took over the Paris Grand Palais for the show, with Lily suddenly appearing through a trapdoor for the performance.

The starry event – with front-row guests also including models Natalia Vodianova and Claudia Schiffer – ended with a romp in the hay when Baptiste, Lagerfeld’s favourite male model, collapsed in straw with two girl models.

Earlier this year Lily modelled for Chanel’s Coco Cocoon campaign – with Lagerfeld pictured in the raunchy photoshoot – as well as posing as Audrey Hepburn for him.
