ARE WE RIGHT TO TAKE ON THE MIGHT OF RUSSIA?

Story Image

President Putin

Tuesday July 17,2007

MINISTERS were braced last night for swift diplomatic revenge from Russia’s Vladimir Putin, after four of his diplomats were ordered out of Britain.

The embassy staff were expelled in retaliation for the Kremlin’s refusal to hand over the suspect wanted over the murder of dissident Alexander Litvinenko.

The Russian government was expected to strike back today, taking the Cold War-style row between London and Moscow to a new level of intensity.

Officials expect tit-for-tat expulsions of British diplomats and further breaking of diplomatic links by Mr Putin’s government.

In a sign of rapidly worsening relations, a Russian official described the British move as immoral and provocative.

What do YOU think? Is expelling the diplomats a good idea, or just an opportunity to provoke Russia?

RUSSIA

This government is so unbelievably stupid as to create a situation of double standards and expect Russia to lie down and take it.

REGARDLESS OF WHY? WHAT? WHERE? WHO? WHEN?WHICH? BUT&IF ...

19.07.07, 2:33pm

At the very LEAST ...
... The arrogant prepotency of the USA and UK poodle is challenged here!
In this truly NASTY story one can argue until Christmas as to who is right and who is wrong. We ALL know how DEADLY that murderous crime was ... BUT ...

The danger in our world is clearly coming from ONE PARTICULAR POWER; and a power which is abusing it in every possible way, as it gets riddled with decadence from North to South, East to West.
Any guesses as to which country I am thinking about? Anyone found a cap to fit?

THIS particular story indicates clearly that there ARE other powers which cannot be pushed about willy-nilly in the name of a 'God-given Right' no matter what.

Yes, the entire world IS clearly at the brink, as we slurp our tea and munch cucumber sandwiches!
Are we to see yet another 'terrorist' outrage to get us all screaming in panic and begging for that 'free' land to defend us from 'Satan'?
Think about it well!

TAKING ON RUSSIA

19.07.07, 12:44pm

We are not taking on the might of Russia, we are making a gesture and posing.Expelling a few diplomats means nothing in real terms. If the Russians are sensible they will expel 8 Brithish diplomats as a counter posture after which normal business can be resumed and replacement diplomats sent. The whole thing is a joke.
Reality is that there is absolutely nothing we can do so best thing is to swallow our indignation and keep quiet rather than making ourselves ridiculous and showing our powerlessness.

RUSSIA SHOULD NOT BE AN ENEMY

Did the UK send any diplomat back after the muslim bombings or the botched attempts?
Europe shows muscles with Russia, and is very meek with terrorists.

ARE WE RIGHT TO TAKE ON THE MIGHT OF RUSSIA?

18.07.07, 3:15am

We have to stand up and be counted for what we consider to be right. They are basically saying "up yours" to us so what are we supposed to do? Just roll over and accept? I think not.
