TARGET: Niall McGinn

Wednesday November 11,2009

By Scott Burns

PREMIERSHIP Wolves are on the trail of Celtic £1.5 million-rated winger Niall McGinn.

The Midlands outfit have sounded out the Hoops about selling the Northern Irish winger in the January window.

Express Sport understands that Wolves were told that McGinn is not for sale and remains an integral part of Tony Mowbray’s plans.

The 22-year-old was signed from Derry City by Gordon Strachan but it has been under Mowbray’s stewardship that his Celtic career has really taken off.

McGinn, who has five caps, still remains on Wolves wanted list and they will continue to monitor his situation over the next couple of months.

They are also aware that McGinn is still playing second fiddle behind Aiden McGeady and Shaun Maloney for a position on either side of the Celtic midfield.

Former Hoops defender and Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has been alerted by some of the impressive performances that McGinn has put in for club and country in recent weeks.

Meanwhile, FC Tokyo full back Yuto Nagatomo is being watched by the Hoops.

Reports in Japan claim that Celtic have been in talks over a £1.5 million move for the 23-year-old, who can play on the left or right.

The Japanese international has also been recommended by former Parkhead favourite Shunsuke Nakamura.
Celtic have already agreed a deal to sign South Korean international Ki Sung-yong in January from FC Seoul.
