Schools: English and Maths being failed by young white males
POOR white boys are falling behind their classmates in English and maths, official figures showed yesterday.
Only 48 per cent of male, white British 11-year-olds from disadvantaged backgrounds reached the standard expected in these subjects.
This compares with a national average of 71.8 per cent of all boys and girls who are reaching the expected standard.
Some 51.6 per cent of poor black boys reached the standard along with 54.7 per cent of Pakistanis. Pupils from a Chinese background were the top performers with 81.8 per cent.
