SHAUN THE SHEEP

Story Image

Shaun The Sheep

Monday November 23,2009

By BBC1, 4.25pm

CALL me old-fashioned, but I’m not entirely happy to see Shaun The Sheep being held up as some kind of modern-day role model.

As we’re reminded this afternoon when he and his fluffy chums – created, of course, by Aardman Animations, the award-hogging makers of Wallace And Gromit – return for a new series of daily adventures, he’s a despicable mischief-maker.

In this first story, for example, Shaun decides to throw a party – disguising himself as the farmer to prevent his little scam getting detected – while in tomorrow’s episode we find him and his wooly mates hijacking one of those machines for painting white lines in the road.

The results, to be honest, are bordering on anarchy. Is this any kind of example to set our kids? I think not.
