UK NEWSBRITAIN'S HARDEST WORKING FATHER AND SON
Stanley Foxwell and his son worked 16 hours a day in their newsagents Saturday November 21,2009 By Daily Express ReporterBRITAIN’S hardest-working father and son have finally put their feet up after working for 45 years between them without a holiday.
Stanley Foxwell, 76, has spent 23 years working 16 hours a day, every day, running the family newsagent shop since 1986. In 1987 he bought a second store and asked the only person who shared his work ethic, his son Colin, 41, to manage it. This he did for 22 years – again without a break. Now after a combined total of 45 years without a rest, Stanley has sold his stores to enjoy retirement. And Colin is at last taking a well-earned holiday. The pair, who live together in Epping, Essex, used to close their stores on only Christmas Day and have worked a combined total of 16,380 days. They have been burgled 50 times between them but laugh it off as a “hazard of the job”. Colin won’t be idle for long – he hopes to buy a new shop next year.
