JONATHAN Ross is allowing his 14-year-old son to play the ultra violent video game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 – although it is rated 18 by censors.

The millionaire BBC star boasted on his Twitter internet page about his son Harvey Kirby’s prowess at the game in which players can choose to take part in an airport siege and execute innocent hostages on behalf of Russian nationalist terrorists.

Ross wrote: “ He has nearly finished it in an evening. I am stuck in the second level. But I am Officer material!”

Modern Warfare 2 is one of the biggest selling games. As well as allowing the murder of civilians in airports in scenes, reminiscent of the Beslan school massacre in Russia, it also lets players kill using knives and wide variety hand guns, machine guns, explosives and other weapons.

Ross’s spokesman Gary Farrow said the issue was a “private matter” and declined to comment further.

Last week, Labour MP Keith Vaz called for tough controls to keep violent games out of children’s hands .

He said Modern Warfare 2 had scenes of such brutality that even the makers put warnings in it telling players how to skip them.
