GORDON BROWN KOWTOWS TO THE EU AGAIN

The Prime Minister used his annual speech to business leaders at the Confederation of British Industry conference in London yesterday to appeal for even closer EU co-operation. He also promised to spearhead a “European growth strategy” to boost economic recovery.

But coming a week after his involvement in the shabby deal to make unknown Belgian Herman Van Rompuy EU President, his CBI speech was seen as another sign of kowtowing to Brussels.

Mr Brown told the CBI: “It is by putting Britain not on the fringes of Europe, but at its heart, that Britain can protect its interests within Europe.”
