Carla Bruni to act in Woody Allen film

Wednesday November 25,2009

WOODY Allen has never made a secret of his wish to cast Carla Bruni in one of his films and now the French First Lady has finally agreed.

Last year Woody Allen described Carla Bruni as “wonderful”, saying he would be delighted to have the supermodel-turned-singer in one of his movies.

“She has charisma and she performs, so she’s not a stranger to an audience,” he gushed after visiting Carla and her husband President Nicolas Sarkozy, 51, in June.

The rumour mill went into overdrive with claims that Carla, 41, had accepted the offer and would start filming with Woody, 73, in 2010.

She was quick to deny the rumours but now she has finally admitted that she is to team up with the prolific director.

“He suggested I appear in his next film,” she told French TV channel Canal Plus. “I don’t know what the role is but I said yes. I go into everything blindly or I’d never do anything at all.”

Carla has only made a few brief film appearances up to now and always plays herself. She has taken roles in French films Pret-a-Porter and Paparazzi.

She admits: “I’m not an actress at all. Perhaps I’ll be completely hopeless but I can’t miss an opportunity like this one. When I’m a grandmother I’d like to be able to say I made a film with Woody Allen.

“Woody Allen requested I do not do a film with anyone else before him. If anything concrete ever comes of it it’ll be a great experience for me.”

Meanwhile the First Lady can also be seen in The Simpsons in which she has been portrayed as a sex-mad femme fatale.
