David Frost gets good report

Wednesday November 25,2009

HIGH PRAISE indeed for Sir David Frost from US television legend Barbara Walters. The British television stalwart has been presented with an honorary International Emmy Award by the journalist and talk-show host, who described him as “the best”.

Sir David Frost, 70, received the award at the 37th annual ceremony in New York, with former PM Tony Blair sending a taped message praising Frost’s “remarkable” and “unique” insight over a career which began with groundbreaking satirical BBC programme That Was The Week That Was and includes the famous 1977 interview with Richard Nixon which later inspired the play and film Frost/Nixon.

Barbara told the audience she thought Frost “the best interviewer there is”, adding: “And he makes it look so easy.”

It was also a good night for actress Julie Walters, who won the best actress gong for her role as Dr Anne Turner in the real-life story of an assisted suicide, A Short Stay in Switzerland, and Brit Ben Whishaw who won best actor for the BBC’s Criminal Justice series.
