SAMBORA LANDS STREET HONOUR

He unveiled Richie Sambora Way in his native Woodbridge on Tuesday (24Nov09).

The hitmaker earned the street honour for his community work, which includes launching a fundraising programme to sponsor teenager Kelly Mahon, who was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2007. Mahon is a student of Sambora's old school, Woodbridge High.

The new street leads up to his alma matter.

Sambora has also donated £25,000 to the school to pay for a new weight room, which has been named after his father, Adam, who lost his battle with cancer two years ago.

Speaking at the ceremony, he said, "Use it in good health my friends, and win, win, win, win, win."
