DAVID CotteriIll is aiming to catch the eye of Wales boss John Toshack after destroying Preston with a virtuoso display.

Winger Cotterill moved to Swansea in a £600,000 switch last month after falling down Sheffield United’s pecking order.

He admitted he feared losing his place in Toshack’s squad after being frozen out at Bramall lane. But now he believes he can establish himself in the Wales set-up after reviving his career in his native South Wales.

Cotterill gave Toshack a reminder of his talent against Preston, scoring Swansea’s first and then setting up their second for ashley Williams. He said: “I want to be a part of the Wales side and that’s one of the reasons I joined Swansea. I’ve had enough of being a bit-part player. I want to be involved on a regular basis. I’m desperate to play for my country.”
