Abbey Road has had its day, says rocker Roger Daltrey
ANDREW Lloyd-Webber may have pledged £30million to try to save Abbey Road from closure but Roger Daltrey says he won’t be heartbroken if the iconic studios do shut down.
The Who frontman, 65, is philosophical about the fate of the famous musical landmark.
“It depends what happens to it,” he says.
“It’s only a studio and they’re kind of not needed any more really are they? But that one has got an incredible history.”
Daltrey, speaking on Absolute radio’s Hometime show, said that he’d known “for ages” that the studios were faced with closure.
And he shrugged off the notion that Sir Paul McCartney would want to buy the studio where The Beatles recorded most of their greatest albums, laughing: “You’ll be lucky.”
