KIESWETTER MAKES DEBUT

Craig Kieswetter

Sunday February 28,2010

England selected both Matt Prior and Craig Kieswetter for the first one-day international against Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.

The latter's rapid rise to prominence had put a question mark over his fellow wicketkeeper's place in the side, but with both on duty Prior should retain the gloves with Kieswetter opening the batting alongside first-time captain Alastair Cook.

Tim Bresnan saw off the challenge of Ajmal Shahzad and Liam Plunkett to take the third seamer's role, meaning Graeme Swann was chosen as England's only spinner on a slow-looking track, on which Cook inserted Bangladesh after calling correctly at the toss.
