ENGLAND RETURN WOULD 'THRILL' CAMPBELL

Sol Campbell has revealed he would love the chance to play for England again.

England face a defensive crisis ahead of the friendly with Germany later this month with John Terry, Ledley King and Jonathan Woodgate all injured while Jamie Carragher has retired from international football, meaning manager Steve McClaren is now considering a recall for the new Portsmouth skipper.

"I'm thrilled," Campbell told the BBC Radio 5 Live Sportsweek programme when asked about being linked with an England return. "But until you are there and it's happening, then I am not going to get too excited."

Campbell, who last pulled on an England jersey in June 2006 in a 2-2 draw with Sweden, added: "I'm just going to concentrate on my game and whatever comes up after that, comes up.

"If it does come I'll take my chances. If it's one game it's good, if it's 15 games after that then fantastic. That's how I'm going to look at it. I played a long time for my country, playing in some fantastic games during that period.

"Of course, I'd love the chance to do it again. We will wait and see if it happens, and if it does then I will get on with it."
