Thorpe Park owner Merlin Entertainments has revealed good results

Wednesday March 10,2010

By Daily Express Reporter

MERLIN Entertainments, the private equity-owned theme park and tourist attractions group, said it was still considering a £2billion float as it unveiled a recession-busting set of annual figures.

Chief executive Nick Varney said the owner of Thorpe Park, Legoland and Madame Tussauds saw a float as a “very, very big option” as revealed an underlying profits rise of 16.6 per cent to £238.6million on revenues up 1 per cent to £769million. “These results speak for themselves,” said Varney. “We are a very attractive company.”

Merlin was said to have postponed float plans last month but Varney said none had been announced. He added the company had grown business by revamping attractions. The firm is planning to open two new Legolands in Florida and Malaysia.
