PERNIS WANTS SLOVAKIAN CUP FINAL AT HAMPDEN

Pernis has come to a Slovakian pact to try and make the Scottish Cup final an all-Dundee affair

Wednesday March 10,2010

By Scott Burns

DUSAN Pernis has revealed how he has come to a Slovakian pact to try and make the Scottish Cup final an all-Dundee affair.

The United keeper is desperate to mark his first season at Tannadice with a Hampden appearance and would love it be against Maros Klimpl's Dundee.

Pernis knows both sides have a lot of work to do before that as they take on holders Rangers at Ibrox on Sunday while their city of Discovery rivals face Raith Rovers in their quarter-final clash.

The Slovakian said: "Yes, Maros and I have spoken about the Scottish Cup final and possibly playing each other in the final.

"It was only a joke but we both know it could happen. It would be great if both teams could make it to the Scottish Cup final."That would be great for both clubs and also for Slovakian football."

Dundee United haven't lifted the Scottish Cup since Ivan Golac's days back in 1994 and that is something Pernis would love to put right. He has really settled since his January move from FC Zilina and would love to repay his new fans with a long overdue trip to Hampden.

United haven't got the best of records against Rangers since Peter Houston took over from Craig Levein. Their last visit saw them crushed 7-1, a match Pernis watched from the stands as he waited for the transfer window to re-open, but the big keeper is confident he and the rest of his Tannadice team mates are more than capable of ripping up the form book.

The big keeper said: "I am happy. Rangers are a big club but I hope we can get a good result against them.I remember I watched the 7-1 game from the stands.I think if we can improve our defence and our play on the break then we could have a real chance.Football is crazy some times.

"If we were to beat Rangers then that would be my first time in a cup semi-final.Maybe I can win the cup in Scotland? Anything can happen."
