BOB DYLAN: NASHVILLE SKYLINE

(Columbia)

When this came out, I just fell in love with it and listened to it over and over again. Dylan's one of those artistes whose voice changes depending on the musicians he's working with. I don't think his voice has ever sounded better.

JORGE BEN JOR: THE DEFINITIVE COLLECTION

(Wrasse)

I love Jorge Ben, an incredible Brazilian musician. I got into him after someone sent me a tape of one of his songs and I've been a fan ever since. It boasts some of the most interesting music I've ever heard, plus the production is amazing.

ANTONIO CARLOS JOBIM: THE VERY BEST OF ANTONIO CARLOS JOBIM

(Retro)

I'm really into Brazilian music at the moment but have always loved Jobim, the king of Bossa Nova, who of course penned the classic Girl From Ipanema.

This is a great introduction to his music.

BILL EVANS TRIO: PORTRAIT IN JAZZ

(Universal Classics)

I'm a huge fan of the Bill Evans Trio and this is another record that's rarely off my turntable.

The main man, the late Bill Evans, was one of America's greatest jazz pianists but he's one of those of artistes who could turn his hand to classical music as well as jazz. I believe he was of Welsh descent.

TAJ MAHAL: MO' ROOTS

(Sbme Special MKTS)

Another of my favourite singers is the blues musician Taj Mahal. A self-taught singer-songwriter, he plays the guitar, banjo and harmonica among other instruments.

He's been a major influence on the development of the post-war blues.

CAETANO VELOS0: THE BEST OF CAETANO VELOSO

(Nonesuch)

Another Brazilian singer who is also a composer, singer and guitarist, widely considered to be the Bob Dylan of Brazil.

He developed Tropicalismo, which fused Brazilian pop with rock and roll and avant-garde music.
