ARRESTS IN BABY ABDUCTION ATTEMPT

A man and a woman have been arrested over the attempted abduction of a baby from a pram.

Victoria Sawyer, 30, was pushing her four-month-old daughter Jazmine in Leigh, near Wigan, when a couple attempted to snatch the child.

Greater Manchester Police said a 31-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman were detained in Skelmersdale on suspicion of attempted abduction.

Mrs Sawyer, who lives in Leigh, was walking across a pelican crossing near the junction of Hulme Road and Wigan Road on August 12 when the incident happened..

Both mother and child were unhurt in the ordeal.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "Detectives investigating the attempted abduction of a baby in Leigh have arrested two people.

"A 29-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man were arrested in Skelmersdale, Lancashire, on suspicion of attempted abduction.

"They are currently being interviewed by detectives."

What won't these monsters do? Even with an adult they still try to snatch a child. Just amazing. Makes me think I need to bulk up just to take my child for a walk. It's rather frightening. i hope they put these monsters away for life to keep them from doing this again. I am so proud of that Mother for fighting for her child. It's just so wonderful that she did that. I hope she's very proud of herself.
