THE economy has enjoyed a second successive quarter of growth, figures this week will show.

The first estimate of gross domestic product for the three months to the end of March is out on Friday, with economists predicting growth up 0.4 per cent on the final quarter of 2009.

Howard Archer, chief UK economist at think tank Global Insight said: “There are currently signs that the UK’s economic recovery may be becoming a little more firmly established.” Other figures are likely to show inflation at 3.1 per cent.
