If I could change anything about myself I’d… be more patient. My husband is the opposite – he’s very measured and calm. Sometimes I’ve snapped my fingers and demanded he answer me instantly, and that’s not very nice.

The most romantic thing anyone has ever done for me is… propose.

Not a lot of people know this but I am very good at… scuba diving. We went to the Maldives last year and James made me try it. I was afraid the sharks would get me, but I really took to it.

You may not know it but I’m no good at… saying sorry – I see it as a sign of weakness and I’ll fight until you agree with me.

When I found out I’d been nominated I ran into the car park, screaming. I was so happy

Last thing at night I always… get a biscuit and lure the dog upstairs. She’s so furry and warm when you’re sleeping and it’s just the best feeling.

If I have time to myself I… sit on my sofa, pick up the phone and  have a good, long chat to my mum.

My “happy place” is… in my living room, by a roaring fire with a glass of sherry, my freshly walked and tired dog next to me, and playing Monopoly with my husband.

The best thing my parents taught me is… never give up, and don’t worry about making mistakes.

The one thing I always try to avoid is… spiders.

If I could pass any law I would... make everyone be more polite. I’m so fed up with being in London and people being rude.

The shop I can’t walk past without buying something is… Topshop, Urban Outfitters, Selfridges and All Saints.

I drive… a blue Nissan Micra. She’s my pride and joy. I was so nervous about driving in London but she’s the perfect car.

The song I can never get out of my head is… Nine to Five by Dolly Parton.

When I was a child I wanted to be a… ballerina. I did A-level dance, but I was never really good enough.

My biggest regret is… I don’t have any regrets. I always try to learn from my mistakes.

My proudest moment is… being nominated for Best Newcomer at the Comedy Awards for Gavin & Stacey. I couldn’t believe it – I never thought anyone would watch our little show, but when I found out I’d been nominated I ran into the car park, screaming. I was so happy!

I know when I’m having a bad hair day when I… wake up. Thank God I’m an actress and have clever people doing things to my hair.

My favourite place in Britain is… Swansea.

The book I am currently reading is… The Road by Cormac McCarthy, I love a good bleak book, and I want to finish it before I see the film.

The best day of my life was… my wedding day. Thinking about it makes me well up. All the love I felt from all my friends and family was amazing.

My last meal would be… fish pie and a glass of red wine. I know you’re not supposed to have red wine with fish but it’s my last meal so I don’t care. I’d have a good merlot, then banana split for afters.
