IT'S RIP-OFF BRITAIN FOR THE IPHONE
The iPhone
Wednesday September 19,2007
ELECTRONICS giant Apple was accused yesterday of ripping off shoppers wanting its new iPhone by charging £71 more than in the US.
The device, combining a touch-sensitive mobile phone with iPod player and wi-fi internet, goes on sale on November 9 at £269 – £71 more than America.
Apple’s deal with mobile operator O2 means it will only work on its network in the UK – preventing shoppers from buying it cheaper from the US.
With O2’s monthly tariff of £35 to £55 for 18 months, users face a hefty bill.
Paul Meyer, of Rip-off Britain, said: “Big companies think of us as a treasure island.” Luke Peters, of gadget magazine T3, said: “What you are getting is not just a phone. The iPhone is a fantastic piece of technology.”
Steve Jobs, Apple’s chief executive, said: “The US price doesn’t include sales tax.” And it was more expensive to do business in the UK.
CON THE BRIT

Ofcorse its a con. Its a world pass time . Con the Brit. The Brit pays the highest travel costs.
the highest rate of tax (several time over). The
highest parking fines . Highest rents & council taxes. Highest insurance + road tax . Highest Tv licence. Obvoiusly they must be stupid. So lets all get on the band wagon.
Ive just returned from the Uk after visiting my family for a few days. Havnt been for a few years,
I was shocked at the prices of everything. i flew from Greece to the Uk for £70 , Then had
to pay £120 to get from Manchester to London.
Coffee £2 a cup. £4 a sandwich. Bus ride £2,
and on and on.
So dont be surprised when you get screwed.

You can only use it on the O2 network. I used to be on that same network but I could not get a signal in Cornwall unless I climbed up to the top of hills.
