Crushed Coleen Rooney hides her wedding ring
A DEVASTATED Coleen Rooney yesterday revealed how her marriage to football star Wayne is on the brink by purposely covering her wedding-ring finger with a scarf.
Coleen, 24, finally emerged to face a horde of paparazzi but was careful to tie a leopard-print scarf round her left hand to conceal whether she was still wearing her wedding ring.
A friend, speaking about the claims that Rooney slept with a prostitute while his wife was pregnant, said: “Coleen has never been so upset in her life and wants to show Wayne just how serious these allegations are and how on the brink their marriage is.
“She could have come out with her wedding ring on and shown the world that they will battle through this but she is so devastated and hurt she just can’t face doing that. Coleen feels so vulnerable and betrayed.”
Looking tired and drawn and dressed in a beige blazer and jeans, Coleen was driven to Liverpool’s Alder Hey Hospital by Wayne’s cousin Claire Rooney to see her sister Rosie, with 10-month-old Kai in the back.
Her 12-year-old sister suffers from Rett Syndrome, a developmental disorder, and spends time at the children’s hospital in respite care.
Coleen’s parents, Colette and Tony McLoughlin, are said to be furious and it has been suggested England striker Wayne may never be welcome in their home again after the alleged scandal with call girl Jennifer Thompson.
Some sources claim Coleen needs space to clear her head and may jet off to the couple’s £5million holiday home in Barbados before crisis talks with her husband.
England striker Wayne returns today from international duty in Switzerland, where he put his misery behind him and opened the scoring in the Euro 2012 qualifying game after just 10 minutes last night. Coleen has been pouring her heart out at her parents’ £1million home in Roby, Liverpool.
But the agony may be far from over as Coleen and her family are bracing themselves for further newspaper revelations this weekend amid claims a second prostitute is set to go public and reveal allegations of a threesome with Manchester United star Wayne, 24, and 21-year-old Thompson.
Thompson, who boasted of bedding Wayne seven times while Coleen was pregnant, was yesterday lying low at a friend’s house.
She is expected to have showdown talks herself today when her Catholic parents fly home from holiday in Portugal. Her loyal brother Alexander said: “I don’t believe she is a prostitute. She doesn’t need the money.”
