A SELFISH father who tried to murder his daughter in a “psycho-style” knife attack after fearing she would leave him, began 10 years behind bars yesterday.

Possessive Lee Kelly, 35, stopped daughter Jade, 16, attending school for three years because he caught her saying “hello” to a boy.

The father-of-two, whose wife left him years before, told neighbours: “She’s my keeper, my world, she stays with me, nobody is going to take her off me.”

He snapped after a row with Jade on a shopping trip to Manchester. Kelly stumbled home drunk and attacked her for not supporting him when he lost a pool match.

He attempted to smother her, then tried to stab her 13 times as she defended herself with a cushion. She fled outside and told a taxi driver that her dad, standing praying in the street begging her not to leave, was a “psycho”.

Kelly, of Walkden, Salford, was found guilty at Manchester Crown Court. He must remain under supervision until 2025 – despite his daughter’s mercy pleas.
