520 IMMIGRANTS EVERY DAY ARRIVE IN BRITAIN

TRANSIT ZONE: Immigrants in Calais await entry to Britain

Friday November 16,2007

By Macer Hall

EVERY DAY Britain is coping with an extra 520 immigrants – the biggest influx in the nation’s history.

Official figures yesterday showed that 591,000 people entered the country last year as 400,000 left.

Shadow Immigration Minister Damian Green said: “This is the direct result of the Government’s ‘open door’ approach.

“It has totally failed to consider the impact of immigration on public services, housing and community cohesion.”
A spokesman for Prime Minister Gordon Brown said: “Net migration levels have fallen for the second consecutive year.”

But the figures, from the Office of National Statistics, confirm long-term predictions that Britain’s population will rise by 10 million over the next 25 years.

The figures also show fewer than one in five newcomers come from the new EU nations in eastern Europe, including Poland and the Czech Republic.

Most, a total of 115,000, were from countries in Asia and Africa, with 92,000 from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

The biggest influx from a single country into Britain last year was from Poland, with a total 68,000. And a total of 62,000 migrants came from Australia, New Zealand and Canada.

The figures come after Home Secretary Jacqui Smith was forced this week to deny she had covered up the fact that 5,000 illegal immigrants were cleared to work in the security industry.

Sir Andrew Green, the chairman of the think-tank Migrationwatch, said: “These latest figures show that two thirds of yet another record level of arrivals come from outside the EU and therefore could and should be subject to much tighter controls.

“This gives the lie to claims that nothing effective can be done about immigration because of our membership of the EU.”

The ONS also admitted the number of migrants who came to Britain in 2004 and 2005 had been underestimated by more than 40,000.

Sir Simon Milton, of the Local Government Association, said: “The speed and scale of migration, combined with the shortcomings of official population figures, is placing pressure on funding for services like children’s services and housing.

“This can even lead to unnecessary tension and conflict.”

In the Commons, Jeremy Corbyn, Labour MP for Islington North said that skilled migrants had boosted the British economy by bringing in specialist skills.

But Tory MP David Davies replied that skilled migrants  coming to the UK were damaging their own countries by leaving a skills shortage.

Cabinet Minister Hazel Blears, the Communities Secretary, admitted: “The effects of migration can put a strain on public services, especially when there is a large movement into an area in a short space of time.

“We recognise that some individual local authorities are experiencing more challenges than others.

“We continue to work with local government on the best way to manage them. While the ONS data is not perfect, it is the best data currently available that treats all authorities on a consistent basis. But of course, like any data, it can be improved.

“That is why we welcome the substantial programme of work ONS is undertaking to improve population statistics, working closely with local authorities on how they are calculated.”

The figures were based on surveys of passengers travelling to and from the UK. They did not include short-term visitors and migrant workers who can stay in Britain for up to a year.

A large proportion – more than 250,000 – of the newcomers settled in London and the South East of England.
Emigration from the UK rose by 41,000 last year.

The most popular destination for departing British citizens were Australia, New Zealand, Spain, France and the US.

I am 15, i go to a school with over 50% population overseas.
Less and less people are passing English GCSES due to the amount of immigrants.
A high amount of overseas students do not bother about learning our language or culture.
A question was asked in English if anyone knew who our priminister was, no one knew and someone that did thought it was tony blair. Surley you should know the person who runs your country? Or at least speak English? No.
I am the only white person in numerous classes. A lot of people find the few english teachers laughable, almost like they are gullable and push-overs.
I am not racist, however it is TRUE britain IS loosing its identity, people my age are growing up with these people, and when the older generation pass away there will be no one to realise how much the country has changed because we have never seen it as anything else.
No one says hello unlike the friendly english culture once was, people walk around quiet and on edge PERMENANTLY. No one smiles.
I have been out twice, i got mugged the second time by a black-african girl, she knocked me to the ground were i must of fell unconcious as i woke to find her kicking me in the face, she took my phone and ran off as my friends approched. Please note i have never seen this girl before and have no idea why she hit me as she did not know i had a phone on me, Therefore I do not no what would of happend to me if i did not have the phone.
Young english Boys are taking on the violent culture, as they think it is "cool" and god knows how there kids are going to turn out.
This country is slowly loosing its identity...someone/thing needs to be done or said. I have seen pictures of the people killed last year and i think only 4/at least 20 were white. I am not racist, however i feel these young black people are finding violence as a easy way out, as finding it acceptable through violent music. I am constantly over hearing how vilolent countrys around the world are and can't help but think somehow the violence is coming over here. I walk past males in school to find him saying they are going to kill me, i have never seen these people before. There is a fight nearly every 3 weeks, Usually a african boy vs african girl. Im sure u are aware of the advantage young girls are being taken of by Young African Men.
There is no friendly faces to look up to anymore, and i am moving away this summer.

WALK THIS WAY

16.11.07, 2:01pm

Good to see another (apparently) waking up, in the form of Macer Hall.
However, it's all very well talking the talk, but how about doing the other thing, Mr Hall?
It's perfectly clear that the present government has no intention of reversing the policies that have lead to this dire state of affairs, and will inevtably lead to a far worse one in the near future.
It's also perfectly clear (Hastilow) that Cameron is 'following orders' and carrying on the agenda; he being a transparent Bliar style PR spinner, and clueless Guardianista fop.
So what's the alternative?
Who will walk the walk?
The direction is clear enough.

STRANGERS IN OUR OWN HOMELAND.

16.11.07, 1:44pm

Our town has been taken over by immigrants. It's sometimes hard to find another person who speaks English in the centre of town. The children at the infants school are having Islam lessons before they can read and write.
The true local people are put to the bottom of the housing lists and our old Churches are being turned into mosques.
Why does this government hate us so much ?

TIME IS RUNNING OUT

16.11.07, 1:36pm

The clck has been ticking away for years. Few of us paid any attention (myself included) until we suddenly saw that the hands were getting round to midnight - zero hour!

I can't tell you what made me wake up to the reality of what was happening to our land and its people. It was most likely a combination of things but once that reality hits you between the eyes you can never look at things in the same way again.

More and more people are now coming out and openly giving their support to the British National Party. They can see that an alternative is needed and the BNP are the only ones offering an alternative. It's about time writers like Macer Hall and others moved on to that next stage and really articulated the mood of the people.
