A couple rescued from a capsized boat off Whitby have died

A third person has died after a boat capsized in heavy seas, police said.

Two men and a woman were rescued from the water by a lifeboat and rescue helicopter after a 22ft cabin cruiser overturned just outside Whitby Harbour.

One of the men and a woman died shortly after they were taken to hospital.

The second man was pronounced dead at 6pm on Friday, North Yorkshire Police said.
