LESBIAN SOLDIER TO GET COMPENSATION
Wednesday January 16,2008
A lesbian soldier is in line for compensation from the Ministry of Defence after a tribunal ruled she had been subjected to a campaign of sexual harassment by a male sergeant.
Lance Bombardier Kerry Fletcher, 31, claimed she was pestered for sex by the unnamed sergeant.
Miss Fletcher told an employment tribunal in Leeds that the staff sergeant began to send her text messages indicating he wanted to have sex with her while she was working at an Army stables in North Yorkshire.
She said the sergeant and other male colleagues tried to destroy her career because she spurned his advances and claimed she was signed off sick with stress as a result.
It was reported she could be in line for as much as £400,000 in compensation after winning her claim.
The tribunal heard the sergeant asked Miss Fletcher to join in a threesome with another woman and boasted in a text message: "Look, I might be able to convert you. You don't know what you are missing."
The senior NCO told the tribunal he did not send any message like this to her. He said he maintained his innocence despite an Army inquiry finding it was probable he did send explicit text messages and a colonel handing him an "expression of severe displeasure" after deciding not to demote him.
The staff sergeant said Miss Fletcher was often late for duties and insubordinate towards him. He said that after a period of leave he decided "enough was enough" and decided to enforce discipline more severely.
He denied he had singled her out for more severe treatment because she had rejected his sexual advances.
Miss Fletcher, who has been in the Army for 10 years, lives in Birmingham but is originally from Sheffield.
PART OF THE COURSE

It would be interesting to know if Snaredrum would consider a communication from a homosexual sergeant to a "straight" soldier which stated,
"Look, I might be able to convert you. You don't know what you are missing."
to be acceptable as part of the course in building up the soldier's mental attitude, or whether he would consider that such persistent harassment should be dealt with at a disciplinary level.

That just about puts it in context. Straight guys and lasses get stick in the forces, it's part of the course of building up the mental attitude. If the forces upset your gay ways then get out and shut up whinging. Bloody wimps.

COMPENSATION CULTURE.

I can't see that this has got anything to do with political correctness, or, indeed, the woman's orientation. It's more to do with the compensation culture that flourishes everywhere nowadays.
If the sergeant and others had been propositioning the soldier against her wishes then the matter should have been dealt with by senior officers and, if the accusations were proven, those guilty should have been severely dealt with, the woman could have carried on with her career and there would have been no question of obscene amounts being awarded as compensation.

This country gets dafter. Many of these lesbians and gays join with the express intent of claiming compo money. It happens in all services and walks of life. When will they realise that we don't give a toss about their orientation, just get on with the job and stop prostituting yourselves as the victims all the time.
