IS THE THREE LITTLE PIGS FAIRYTALE OFFENSIVE?

Offensive: The famous fairytale

Wednesday January 23,2008

A pop-up book based on a popular children's fairytale has been dismissed as "offensive to Muslims" by a Government agency.

The Three Little Cowboy Builders, targeted at youngsters aged five to 11, re-tells the classic fairy-tale of The Three Little Pigs.

But Becta, the Government's educational technology agency, turned down the digital book for an educational award because it might offend Muslim groups.

Feedback from the BETT Awards explained that the judges "could not recommend this product to the Muslim community" and even that it "might alienate parts of the building trade."

But what do YOU think?

Could this book offend Muslims? Does it!? Should we take action like this to protect Britain's minority faiths?

Or are faceless bureaucrats, yet again, interfering for no good reason?

this is more right-on do-gooder BS. have any muslims directly objected to this title? last march a school in Kirklees Yorkshire changed a song title in Roald Dahl's version of Little Red Riding Hood for similar reasons and was ordered to change it back by local councillors.

EVERY DAY WE HEAR OF THIS AND YET NOTHING CHANGES...

And what is going to stop this? From what I see, nothing. Or not until things get horribly out of control. Either way, it's not looking good.

SLIGHTLY OFF-TOPIC BUT...

I found this article extremely interesting...

It's a perfect illustration of just how far removed from reality our educationalists really are.

Be warned, though. Some of you might well be shocked by what you are about to read.

3 LITTLE PIGS

No of course it is not offensive, but the same rules should be applied across the board, therefore if I find Halal meat offensive, then all Halal shops should be either shut down or removed from my sight. What if I find the Koran offensive, should it be removed from sale?
We all know the answer to the 2 questions above don't we. I would air drop 5 million copies of the Three little pigs into Iran and ask their opinion. Not that I'd give a toss what they thought.
