Angelina Jolie's tribute to her mum

HOLLYWOOD actress Angelina Jolie is ensuring that her mother Marcheline’s memory lives on by spending the first anniversary of her death in a day-long vigil commemorating her life.

On Sunday the Tomb Raider star, 32, plus adopted children Maddox, six, Zahara, three, and Shiloh, one – her child by partner Brad Pitt, 44 – and brother James Haven, 34, will visit Los Angeles’s Cedars-Sinai hospital, where Marcheline died aged 57 after battling ovarian cancer.

They will give a donation to the hospital’s women’s cancer research fund.

As well as visiting Marcheline’s grave, the actress – whose father is actor Jon Voight – will show the children old pictures of their grandmother and cook her favourite meal, thick vegetable soup.

Brother James admits: “When mom died I couldn’t stop crying but both Angie and I really believe she’s in a better place. It’s just so painful that we’re not going to see her again.”

A close friend of the family explains: “James and Angelina adored their mother. They want this day to be solely dedicated to her memory.”

It is feared the reminder of Angelina’s loss may be too much for her.

“Angie still weeps for her a lot and James has been saying how he’s worried she will fall apart on Sunday,” adds our source.
