SHAMED TORY MP FACES £13,000 BILL

BAN: Derek Conway

Tuesday January 29,2008

By Alison Little Deputy Political Editor

CONSERVATIVE MP Derek Conway faces a Commons ban and a bill for £13,000 after he misused his allowance to pay his son as a researcher.

He apologised “unreservedly” for his “shortcomings and misjudgments”.

MPs are expected to agree a motion accepting the punishment. But Tory activists, furious at a “sleaze” row after weeks of Labour in the spotlight, want leader David Cameron to take tough action.

Mr Conway’s son Freddie, 19, was starting university when he was hired as a researcher and paid more than £40,000 over three years. “He seems to have been all but invisible during the period of his employment,” a report said.

But a party spokesman ruled out withdrawing the whip from Mr Conway which would effectively have shut him out of the parliamentary party. “Derek Conway has apologised fully on the floor of the House. The appropriate punishment is being administered,” he said.

DON'T TAR ME WITH THE SAME BRUSH

The comment from 'The_Way_I_See_It' suggests that all civil servants are corrupt and above the law. I think you should qualify that statement because I am a civil servant who, like the majority of my colleagues across all Govt. Dept's earn less than £20K per year. We are unable to claim expenses and we get sacked if caught breaking the rules. You should have directed your comments at MP's who claim our taxes without having to provide evidence of what they spend it on. Whether the senior civil servants who work closely with MP's are corrupt or not is a topic for discussion but there is an old adage about catching fleas if you lie down with the dogs.
One of the main differences between us and them is possible membership of the Freemasons.

FURTHER PROOF OF THE CORRUPTION IN THE LIBLABCON.....

29.01.08, 6:48am

If this is fraud then charge the criminal responsible make him accountable for his own actions, condemn benefit fraud by poor parents desperately trying to provide for their children and condone the same from corrupt and criminal civil servants.

One law and no one is above that law, except immigrants and civil servants more proof if any were needed of racial abuse against the indigenous population if any were needed!

Banned from the commons, if he committed a criminal act to extort money from the taxpayers jail him like any other benefit thief he is stealing from the same pot of taxpayers money.
