The news is a blow for the parents of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman – murdered by Huntley in 2002 – who will never see their daughters grow up and have children of their own.

Huntley was said to have taken news of the marriage badly. Sources maintain that he has feelings for the woman whom he persuaded to give him a false alibi.

She was moved to a new location, and was provided a change of appearance, employment and police protection.

Lawyers are expected to ask a judge to extend her anonymity to her husband to be and any children the couple may have.
