EDUCATION chiefs have been accused of devaluing Easter over plans to delay pupils’ traditional two-week break until after the Christian festival.

Hundreds of schools across the country will move next year’s holiday to April 4 – two weeks after Easter Sunday – and rename it the spring holiday.

Although schoolchildren will have a long Easter weekend with Good Friday and Easter Monday off, they will be in class on Maundy Thursday – another key date in the Christian calendar.

Politicians and campaigners last night said the decision to delay the break ignored the importance of Easter.

I know one poster has said there is little Christianity in this country , that is not the point, the fact is this is a country founded on christian principles and is the basis of our national culture and characteristics. We do not belive in what we can do for God but what he can do for us, the former is the Muslim belief the latter ours. Also there is hope of redemption in the Lord in Islam there is none , a bleak prospect for anyone just making a simple mistake. Christianity allows for progress, Islam prohibits it.
We also see kindness as a strength, Islam see it as a weakness, Christianity was spread by persuation not by the sword. and Today it is the Christian countries which have most wealth and power which is a testiment to Christianity while other coutries live in the near middle ages.

Why not just allow the government or the politically correct morons to ban Christianity? the religion of our Country. And allow the Muslim faith to take over? After all, that's all I ever read about these days?
I think this politically correctness has gone too far , and the people who have some intelligence should take over. Even some Muslims are embarrassed with this 'kid glove treatment'!

Yes, they should protect them. So many families travel to visit each other that time of year, the students would just loose school rather than be there any ways. All religions should be protected including Christianity. They all celebrate their holidays within the same time period, or at least many of them do. They should leave things alone and give the parents and the kids their Christian holidiay breaks like they always have.

Do we mean should the British still worship the Moon, or the sun or the Artic wolf; as Tradition did thousands of years ago; before the Romans and Christianity came to this country?

Things change. If this country were not a hotbed of Hypocricy then there may be some hope for it.

What is the point of Christianity if it is ignored when it comes to Politicians asking the bishops to support 'our troops' (a war)? How Christian is that?
C'mon; do Politicians pray to Jesus; we got some country to bomb; we fiddled evidence against them Iraqis. We have no evidence, but lets join in with America (because it is ruled by whites) and start prisons of torture after destroying the social structure.

Pffft; there is little or no Christianity in this country; what there is, is a charade.
