HEATHER FACE TO FACE WITH MACCA IN COURT BATTLE

RISKY: Heather Mills will be all alone as she battles Paul McCartney

Wednesday February 6,2008

By Elisa Roche

HEATHER Mills is gearing up to represent herself in the High Court next week as she bids to win £50million from husband Sir Paul McCartney.

The pair are scheduled to appear next Monday – but Ms Mills will have no legal team by her side after her row with top law firm Mishcon de Reya.

The rift leaves the lone Ms Mills in danger of facing three different legal battles at the same time.

Apart from the divorce case, Mishcon de Reya are said to want to begin legal proceedings against her as soon as possible for payment of fees, reported to amount to just under £2million.

And Ms Mills, 40, was yesterday said to be planning to turn the situation on its head by suing them for “bad representation”.

Sir Paul, 65, is expected to stand in the witness box while his ex cross-examines him and attempts to prove that in marrying him she lost her future earnings potential. She will say she was deprived of her own career and popularity as his national icon status automatically eclipsed her own standing.

Her risky move is reminiscent of Erin Brockovich, the single mother who took on American energy giants in a 1993 legal battle that was later turned into a hit movie.

But where Miss Brockovich had many supporters, Ms Mills could be all alone after alienating even loyal sympathisers with the divorce claims she is about to reel out.

During the hearing, expected to last five days, she intends using a dossier of “evidence” she is said to have been collecting for years.

It was recently rumoured that Ms Mills is planning to sell her East Sussex mansion to pay off the huge legal bills she accumulated while still under representation.

Last month Sir Paul was said to have made a “generous offer” to settle out of court. But last night representatives for both parties refused to comment on the upcoming battle.

is this woman totally mad or just stupid? she should have accepted the very generous offer made to her and saved the lawyers bills. since paul made his money before she married him, how can she claim half? and as for her career being ruined, she seems to be doing ok to me.how much money do these people need to live a very comfortable life? it's pure greed!
