Children love Easter chocolate but have no idea why the holiday is significant

Wednesday April 4,2007

BRITAIN’S youngsters have no idea why we celebrate the Easter holiday.

In a sign that Britain is losing its Christian values, one in six 16-24-year-olds do not know what happened on Good Friday, when Jesus was crucified. And one in 10 do not understand the meaning of Easter Sunday, the day of his resurrection.

The survey of 1,130 people was carried out for Somerfield as it gears up for the Easter rush to buy chocolate eggs.
The news led the Church of England to warn that the true meaning of the festival could become “as hollow as most chocolate eggs”.

EASTER

not surprised at this one,but what do you expect when *Christianity* as such is not taught at school in case it offend`s other religions, I am just surprised they the PC brigade have not yet put a blocker on Easter card`s and their religious meaning`s as they have done for Christmas or is that one on the agenda for next year, and will the buying of Easter egg`s be banned as well, like school play`s and the Nativity scene`s or anything else to do with Christian
religion

YOUTH CANNOT CRACK EASTER

These statistics mean that 5 out of 6 and 9 out of 10 respectively DO know what Easter is about. The others are probably not Christian so what exactly is the fuss?........ Manipulation perhaps? This Government are desperate to see the demise of religion
