“This was not a violent fight. These were more in the style of execution killings,” said the barrister.

Talented A-level student Kesha, who wanted to become a barrister herself, appeared on the ITV1 talent show Young Stars In Their Eyes in 2004 as US soul diva Toni Braxton.

That year Beverley, a nurse at Manchester Royal Infirmary, split amicably after 16 years from the children’s father Fred Wizzart Snr, 37.

She then embarked on an “intermittent” year-long relationship with Williams – but she dumped him in 2006.

Williams, who lived in Birmingham, where he has a young son, had a set of keys, however, and continued to turn up at the house unannounced.

He stayed on July 10 last year but when Beverley refused to have sex with him he “stormed off downstairs in a temper,” Manchester Crown Court heard.

In the early hours of Thursday July 12, he left the house and met up with two girlfriends at the New Union pub in Manchester city centre.

Kesha, who normally stayed with her father, decided to sleep in the spare bedroom at her mother’s house that night because she had returned late on a train from London, where she had been visiting prospective universities.

Williams allegedly returned to the house and carried out the sex attacks before killing his victims between 3.30am and 7.30am.

Beverley’s niece Selina Brown became concerned she couldn’t contact her aunt and used a neighbour’s ladder to climb to a bedroom window.

She saw Beverley’s naked blood-spattered body lying face down under a duvet on her double bed. 

Fred, who may have been marched into his mother’s room and forced to kneel, was dead in a similar position by the side of her bed.

Kesha was discovered face down on the floor in the spare room. Her hands had been tied before her death and black knickers placed over her head after she was struck by a 2lb steel hammer head.

Jurors were left on the verge of tears as they watched a police DVD of the horrific scene inside the house.

Fred Snr described his ex-wife Beverley as “an out-going person with a good personality. You would be hard-pushed to find anyone who had a bad word to say about her”.

He said Fred Jnr was “a typical 13 year old who was into music, clothes, friends and tinkering with bikes. He was a happy person whose sense of humour shone through”. At a memorial service, 1,000 mourners applauded when the three coffins arrived in glass carriages drawn by plumed horses through Fallowfield.

After the appalling killing spree Williams went to a building society in Manchester city centre where he was “calm, relaxed and smiley” as he withdrew £100, the jury heard.

He later caught a train to Birmingham, where he sold his victims’ mobile phones for £60.

The jury heard how Williams had a “propensity of violence” towards women. On two occasions he had raped and sexually assaulted a former girlfriend.

The woman was tied up on both occasions in a similar method used to attack Kesha.

Williams was arrested after contacting police in Birmingham on July 14.

He denies three charges of murder and two of sexual assault.
