SMITH AT INTERNATIONAL CRIME SUMMIT
Jacqui Smith is to address an international crime conference
Home Secretary Jacqui Smith and Metropolitan Police chief Sir Ian Blair are set to speak at the first pan-European Serious Organised Crime Conference.
The event will bring together law enforcement agencies from the European Union, Turkey and the Balkans.
It aims to bring police and security officials together with Interpol and Europol to discuss strategies for tackling international crime.
At a series of seminars, delegates will discuss the development of techniques in tackling niche areas of organised crime, including money laundering, gun crime, human trafficking, hi-tech crime and counterfeiting.
A spokeswoman for Merseyside Police, which is hosting the event at Liverpool Arena, said: "This inaugural conference is promoting the use of targeted and co-ordinated multi-agency action to destroy the capability of criminals and take the profit out of crime.
"It places the emphasis on working together to combat serious and organised crime in Europe and has attracted senior leaders and decision-makers from across the Continent."
The first speaker will be Bill Hughes, head of the UK's Serious Organised Crime Agency (Soca). Later, Jacqui Smith will make the keynote address, entitled The UK's Role in Tackling European-wide Crime.
Sir Ian's speech, Towards a Safer Europe, is expected on Tuesday evening and finally Jon Murphy, head of the Home Office's Gun Crime Task Force, will talk about fighting crime at the local level.
The majority of seminars during the three-day event take place behind closed doors.
Speakers will include Joaquim Nunes De Almeida, from the European Commission's Security Office, and Brian Minihane, director of police support at Interpol.
RIDICULOUS!
05.03.08, 6:32am
The involvement of these two in policing in this Country has revealled how incompetant, inefficient and lacking kowledge of the subject and an iota of common sense they are.
Allowing or permitting their involvemtn in such a conferenc e is rather like - say -Peter Hain being appointed manager of Arsenal F.C.!
A waste of their (and our time) and complete embarassment re the Government and statet of the UK.

SMITH AND BLAIR AT CRIME SUMMIT
04.03.08, 6:22pm
Well Well..what a win double to send to a crime summit, presumably they have gone to plead for more crime for Britain!!. We have one kebab eating minister who is afraid to walk London's streets alone after dark, and she takes the person who is supposed to MAKE London's streets safe for people to walk after dark. The leader of London's police is so highly thought of by his staff that they did'nt bother to tell him that an innocent man was shot 7 times in the head by mistake for 24 hours. I feel sure the rest of the world will hang on their every word.

QUICK START

I could give Spliff a good pointer, Start by kicking out the foreign criminals, those in and out of prison. Close the borders and then deal with our home grown scum. It may take a few years but you can't cure a cancer by taking asprin.
