Patrick Swayze has pancreatic cancer
By Andy Wells for express.co.uk
HOLLYWOOD star Patrick Swayze has confirmed he has pancreatic cancer but is 'responding well' to treatment.
According to OK! Magazine , the former Dirty Dancing star has a 'very limited' amount of the disease and doctors are optimistic he will recover.
The 55-year-old was diagnosed with the condition in late
January and has been receiving treatment from the Stanford University
Medical School in California for the past month.
Responding to early reports that the star had only five weeks to live, his publicist Annett Wolf issued a statement from his physician Dr George Fisher.
The statement said: "Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and
he appears to be responding well to treatment.
"All of the reports stating the timeframe of his prognosis and his
physical side effects are absolutely untrue. We are considerably more
optimistic."
She added that Patrick deeply appreciated the "outpouring of support
and concern" he has received from the public.
Patrick is continuing to work throughout his treatment.
He has two projects in the works - the movie Powder Blue, and a
television movie titled The Beast. Both are scheduled for release this
year.
