BRITAIN is losing its national pride and mass immigration is among the causes, Gordon Brown’s key adviser on citizenship admitted yesterday.

Former Attorney General Lord Goldsmith said there is less “belonging” than recent years.

He also revealed one in 10 now reject British identity.

Lord Goldsmith unveiled measures to boost pride in a major review of citizenship, including plans for a National Day, children swearing an oath to the Queen and tax incentives for community work.

But critics attacked some of the proposals as “half-baked” and “empty gestures” and insisted Britons did not need “synthetic patriotism” to feel a part of their country.

Britain is losing its identity.In times past, the english honored God and was also honored.From the spanish armada failure, through to lord nelson and to the second world war, God was on britains side.check it out, the weather was what saved england each time. coincidence?King George the sixth called for a national day of prayer in 1940 and the bulk of the B.E.F. was saved. Since 1948, when britain prevented the jews enterng their rightful home land, she has lost her empire. Britains fortunes will change when the people again honour God and Israel.Labour is anti Christian and there fore the country will continueto suffer.Britain is and never will be multi-cultural, islamic or of any other half baked religeous persuasion.

Yes the government is to blame. The political correctness that stops nativity ecenes in case it upsets other cultures, Europe dictating to us as to what we do, allowing known terrorists to stay in this country - with all the benefits - and providing them with legl aid, allowing muslim radicals to arrive in this country on a 'hate tour' whlst he glorifies terrorist action. teaching the koran in schools. It's starkly obvious that the british culture and identity is being slowly eroded until one day, any traditions & christian worship may be have to be done in secret.

i find it hilarious that people will actually blame the government for what they see as a 'lack of identity'...

the last time i checked, i didn't look to the government to tell me who i am and give me an identity (or erode it, for that matter).

if you feel that you need the government to maintain this fiction that you call 'british identity' (like culture is something that never changes, that you either 'have' or 'don't have'), then it must not be a very strong 'culture' in the first place.

i don't need the government to tell me i'm british. britian is where i live. and british culture is the culture i exist in now, not 500 years ago.

things change and time moves on. get over it.

YES, Britain is losing its' identity!!! However, we should not blame the immigrants (and I know we are sorely tempted!) but we should blame the government for their lily livered liberal approach, and for the loopholes in the benefit system that allows the flagrant draining of the countrys coffers. Lets face it, if you lived in abject poverty, and someone offered you a five bedroom home - fully furnished, with all your bills paid, a mobile 'phone, special water and spending money every week without having to do a stroke of work, wouldn't you go? Its the system that allows this. The doors should be shut & bolted to any more immigrants, asylum seekers (bogus or otherwise). If you had £100 per week to live on and you let 50 of your friends come and live with you for nothing, it wouldn't work, would it? And no, Mr Brown, it doesnt work with a country either.
