ASYLUM SYSTEM 'NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE'
The asylum system is still not "fit for purpose", according to an independent report.
The Independent Asylum Commission (IAC) inquiry also found that the system for deporting failed asylum seekers was undermining credibility and sapping public confidence.
The IAC - a committee of experts including peers, lawyers, churchmen and others with an interest in the asylum system - published its interim report and said the asylum system denies help to some who need it and is not "firm enough" in sending home unsuccessful applicants.
In 2006, the then home secretary John Reid said the asylum system was part of the Home Office which he deemed not fit for purpose.
The report said: "The commission has found that the UK asylum system is improved and improving, but is not yet fit for purpose.
"The system still denies sanctuary to some who genuinely need it and ought to be entitled to it, is not firm enough in returning those whose claims are refused and is marred by inhumanity in its treatment of the vulnerable."
The IAC has collected evidence from hundreds of witnesses during the last year.
It found that the systems to remove failed asylum seekers from Britain were "not effective and sap credibility and public confidence from the entire asylum system".
The report added: "The conduct of some enforced returns is tainted with inhumanity and causes unnecessary distress to the individuals and communities concerned.
"The policy of using destitution as a lever to encourage voluntary return of refused asylum seekers risks forcing some extremely vulnerable people - who might have qualified for sanctuary had their cases been well handled - to face persecution in their country of origin."
NICKSTER: HOW MANY ASS ARE YOU SUPPORTING?

Nickster, are you another bleeding heart liberal with a big mouth? How many ASs have YOU got in YOUR home? How much of YOUR income are YOU spending on them directly? Don't expect others to do what YOU won't.
ASs know about this soft touch country, otherwise they wouldn't come all this way here, and it's types like YOU Nickster, who only make the problem worse.
When does Britain become full, and much more importantly, when do we the British get to say what WE want, spend money on our OWN people first, and not let the useless corrupt Government with traitorous idiots in the Home Office and Immigration ruin things for us.

How many countries are there between Somalia and the UK?
How many countries between Somalia and the UK provide the same benefits and handouts as the UK?

No matter by what route they arrived here, paying traffickers wasn't a legal way of getting here either Internationhal Law is intended for everyone.
No we are not inhuman, just sick to death of being taken for fools , we are not responsible for all the worlds problems, there are plenty of other countries people can "escape" to.
I was right in saying had they obeyed International law we would not have the problem. now dispute that if you can

ASYLUM CAMPS
27.03.08, 12:56pm
Illegal migrants are an EU wide problem although most other countries, notably France, alleviate the problem by encouraging them to come to England, which is the prime target anyway.
We therefore need a concerted EU approach. I suggest the EU could pay rent to several sparsely populated African countries for several thousand acres of land, preferably near to the coast, which would be set up as refugee camps. The camps would be segregated by claimed nationality (that would be a test for those claiming to be from a war zone when in fact they are lying about their origin and come from somewhere else)
They would be provided with basic humanitarian needs and the means to educate themselves or learn trades under the auspices of the UN.
They would be free to return to their country of origin if they didn’t like it there.
All illegal immigrants and foreign criminals in prison in the UK would be deported by ship.
All the agency staff from the myriad publicly funded organizations who currently do such sterling work on their behalf,( and lawyers) would be relocated so they could carry on the good work.
Similarly, all those organizations for the World’s poor and hungry that currently have large swanky offices in London could be found accommodation somewhat nearer to the problem.
In return the African countries would get a large rent which would help them to create a better country for their own people and thus reduce the desire for them to enter the EU illegally.
We could call the camp Utopia because it would seem like that to genuine asylum seekers.

but, our own people are suffering from the burden of being so accommodating, my own elderly mother being one of them, she has not been out of the house for over a year as she feels threatened by all of the foreigners that have moved into west London, she feels unsafe when she's on a bus, when not one person is speaking English, and finds their stares intimidating, can anyone fight for her human rights in feeling safe in her own country.
All of the people that do not live in the urban squalor of the cities of the UK brough about by endless refugees/asylum seekers have not idea what a human toilet the UK has become.
It is also no good changing the nulabour bunch of losers with a party of much the same, the only party that will get my vote is the one that makes it their election pledge to withdraw us from the human rights act, and put an end to the gravy train.
