UK NEWSNATASHA: MALE BOSSES ARE ALL SEXISTSaturday March 29,2008 By Elisa Roche, Showbusiness EditorNEWSREADER Natasha Kaplinsky has accused male bosses of being sexist, and says she is fed up with being typecast as an “autocutie”. The new face of Five News revealed she is often given style advice by men who “can hardly dress themselves”.[>
But last night the £1million-a-year presenter seemed determined to prove she has a very good fashion sense of her own, wearing a v-neck chiffon gown and vintage diamond drop earrings, when she appeared on Jonathan Ross’s talk show.[>
Since joining Five from the BBC, the 36-year-old presenter is said to have boosted viewing figures by more than 70 per cent.[>
“I’ve always been hired by male bosses,” she told Ross. “It amuses me because they always say, ‘You should change your hair... your lipstick’, meanwhile they can hardly dress themselves.[>
“What irritates me, though, is that I never see a man being called an auto-cutie.”[>
But, when pushed by Ross, the star admitted she thinks former colleague Dermot Murnaghan is hunky. Autocutie, an American term listed in the Urban Dictionary Of Slang since 2003, is defined as a newsreader who is employed for appearance over journalistic talent and who relies heavily on their autocue.[>
When she joined Five, Kaplinsky was urged to adopt a more casual look. But she told Ross the new look didn’t come naturally and took an army of stylists.[>
[> “The clothes were a big thing. They said, ‘Don’t wear jackets’. [>
“Then there was a procession of stylists, only one shirt of mine survived... and getting my hair to look reasonable is quite a feat, it doesn’t look great natural, it’s really curly.” [>
Kaplinsky is not the first woman to accuse TV bosses of sexism. Last year, broadcasters David Dimbleby, John Humphrys and Sir Trevor McDonald all spoke out in support of Moira Stuart, then 55, who was sacked by the BBC.[>
A month later, Sky News anchorwoman Kay Burley admitted she had undertaken plastic surgery. [>
“I’ve signed a new contract so I’m not anxious at all about my job,” she insisted. “I had my eyes done for myself – it was nothing to do with my career.” [>
But this January, former BBC newswoman Selina Scott, 56, reignited the debate on sexism in the news. Speaking before BBC Breakfast celebrated 25 years of broadcasting, she attacked news channels for hiring women for looks over talent.[>
“How many women are there on mainstream current-affairs programmes who are over 50?” she asked. “Anna Ford has retired, Moira Stuart has been bumped, yet you look around and see lots of men. [>
“Women are taken on because they are intelligent and good-looking but not because of the experience they’ve had in breaking or covering stories.” [>

Idiotic fake woman, thats why they hired her to get some saddos to watch . Does she really think she has some other ability .
She's a fool and so are Five , add to that the silly viewers who let them be insulted by this trash, thats if they have the sound up.
Five News with so n' so should be shortened to Five News W-NK , much more appropriate and truthful.

No doubt the talented Natasha is now expecting a call from the Old Vic, though I'm not sure they have Shakespeare on auto cue yet.

Of course this silly moo isn't being sexist right now by saying this is she. I remember when newsreaders had brains but that's clearly not the case now!
